Light rain this morning followed by 45-50 degree temperatures this afternoon has pretty much put the lid on what little riding exists for this coming weekend.  In addition, no snow is forecast for the next 5 days.

We received about an inch or two of snow overnight followed by rain so conditions have not improved for riding this weekend. Technically the trails are open but conditions remain hazardous; so if you do ride exercise extreme caution.

Snow coverage has thinned considerably as Cavendish received a moderate amount of rainfall over the last 24 hours and the temperature is currently 40 degrees at 11:00 A.M.   No appreciable snow is in the forecast for the next several days so riding conditions do not look favorable for this coming weekend.

Cavendish received 2-3 inches of powder last night and we expect another 1-2 inches early Saturday morning.  The trails have not been groomed and the snow cover remains thin due to a lack of sufficient snow.  Extreme caution is recommended if you do venture out on the trails this weekend.

1)  A group ride is planned for the Pinnacle on the night of Tuesday, February 7, 2012 during the full moon. Members and non-members are invited to meet at the club’s food shack at 7:00 P.M.

2)  The second group ride is scheduled for Saturday, February 18, 2012 to the camp of Jon Springer in Barnard.  Members are asked to meet at 9:00 A.M. at the club’s food shack.  Please bring your own food and drinks.  A grill is available at the camp.

3)  The third group ride is planned for Saturday, March 3, 2012 to Steve Turco’s camp on Hawks Mountain.  Members are asked to meet at 10:00 A.M. at the club’s food shack. Please bring your own food and drinks.  A grill is available at the camp.

There are no alternate dates for the rides.  All of the rides are subject to snow and weather conditions prevailing on the scheduled dates.

The February meeting of the Cavendish Green Mountain Snow Fleas will be held on Wednesday, February 15 at the home of Deb and Dan Tiernan, ” off Heald Road “, The Hill, Cavendish.

The Cavendish Snow Fleas monthly meeting will be held on Wesnesday, January 11, 2012 at the home of Gail and Leon Woods, 16 Parker Avenue, Proctorsville at 7:00 PM.

The Cavendish Green Mountain Snow Fleas Snowmobile Club will meet on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 5:00 PM at the home of Jared and Karen Wilson, 352 Chapman St., Cavendish.  A lasagna dinner will be served. BYOB.

Due to the heavy damage sustained by Vermont during the tropical storm Irene we are asking anyone who is interested in making a donation to assist the club with trail repairs to send their contribution to Gail Woods, 16 Parker Street , Cavendish, Vermont 05142.

The Cavendish Snowfleas monthly meeting will be held at Claire and John Bellino’s home, 80 Christmas Tree Lane in Ludlow on November 30, 2011 at 7:00 P.M.

The cost for Vermont state and county maps will be $5.00 for the 2011-2012 season.
